The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will support Bastion Technologies Engineering projects and will work in a team environment to analyze requirements and develop design solutions. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop detailed designs for mechanical, electrical, and structural equipment and hardware. Develop 3-D models and 2-D detailed drawings for manufacturing and installation using CAD applications, such as SolidWorks and Creo. Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines. Produce engineering drawings conforming to NASA JPR 8500, ASME Y14.5, and other applicable standards as applicable. Collaborate with the engineer to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems. Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Check materials to be used and safety and engineering specifications as necessary. Design, develop, test, handle implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Perform dimensional fit tolerance analysis. Prepare and present designs at various design reviews using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Support project meetings and create reports as required. Produce other required design documentation. Perform other duties as required. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED: This position has been posted at multiple levels. This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status due to the sensitivity of customer related information. Certification of two (2) years training from a vocational training school or two (2) years of college with courses relevant to drafting or engineering principles. Six (6), or more, years of relevant experience. DESIRED: Aerospace design experience. WORK LOCATION: This position is located onsite at Bastion Technologies headquarters in Houston, Texas STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS: Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite. All of Bastion's employees must be team players. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives. Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented. Must be organized with good time management skills. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. Will work with, and around, standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time). ATTENDANCE: Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements. BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED: All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.
