JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Pool Manager and Head Lifeguard, this position performs a variety of tasks in connection with activities at the City's pool, including conducting swimming lessons, enforcing pool ruls, regulations, and policies. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of the patrons visting the pool. JOB DUTIES: Ensures patron safety by enforcing all pool rules and regulations Ensures the safety of customers at City pool facility by visually scanning all areas of the pool, determining whether customers are in distress, performing in the water rescues and assists when necessary, providing first aid to patrons when appropriate and completing CPR when necessary Teaches Red Cross swimming lessons according to a prescribed routine and curriculum. Recommends to the Head Lifeguard the removal of patrons due to misconduct Assists in special activities at the pool Maintains pool operations and equipment by vacuuming the pool, scrubbing pool equipment and pool walls for sanitization purposes, removing debris from pool water and picking up debris from surrounding areas Ensures the sanitization of aquatic facilities by disinfecting bathrooms with the appropriate cleaners, sweeping and mopping floors, picking up debris from patron areas and gathering lost items. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Must be age 16 or older Certified as a Lifeguard or ability to obtain certification within the allotted time.
