WYATT FIELD SERVICE COMPANY POSITION TITLE: Senior Field Engineer/Senior Survey Engineer REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager POSITION SUMMARY: Leads the field execution of validating and verifying design and construction elements utilizing surveying technologies, laser scanning technologies, 2D & 3D CAD techniques needed to support Owner and Wyatt self-perform needs. Provides technical and administrative direction to field layout or survey personnel and when necessary, perform the field layout or survey operations personally.Supports construction projects with field technical information and interpretation to company supervision, crafts personnel and customer contacts.Monitor in-process construction work to ensure engineering standards, codes and job specifications will be satisfied. FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Essential Functions Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily Interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customer, subcontractor, vendor, craft and Wyatt Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the project. When obstacles arise, employ sound decision making/problem solving skills to resolve the Experienced in using surveying equipment including laser scanners, total stations, and traditional surveying Develops execution planning and implementation of activities associated with technical surveys required to support owners, engineering, and construction Produces reports, drawings, and 3D models resulting from information obtained from surveying Maintain a controlled set of project drawings and specifications at the Interpret design/drawings for crafts installing Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference and errors. Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc. Assist with heavy rigging Provide technical support and direction to implement rigging plans when Conduct regular walkdowns and inspections of construction projects, including safety audits, to ensure compliance with OSHA, customer and project Provide necessary building control lines, elevation lines or part alignment lines for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials. Communicate and cooperate with jobsite customer representatives, Wyatt jobsite management and craft supervision on topics such as completed work, work in process and problem. Assist with the inventory, inspection and when necessary, purchase, of customer furnished or Wyatt supplied material as received on the Prepare and disseminate required documentation records, such as status reports, punch lists for uncompleted work, sketches of completed work, material requirement calculations, etc., to the Project Manager. Verify completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings and Monitor QA/QC policies and procedures per applicable codes. Assist with documentation for completed code Support the QA/QC personnel at the jobsite with ordering weld procedures and weld qualifications. Assist in developing and performing non-destructive test packages (NDT), such as hydrotest packages for vessels or piping Assist in developing and/or updating schedules or cost control Must enter boiler mud drums, tray towers, etc through small manway Support home office engineering with CAD drafting activities to meet project engineering deliverable Travel to and from owner and construction sites as required by direct supervisor. This may require up to 75% Marginal Functions Attend meetings with Participate in "lessons learned" meetings upon completion of a Perform additional assignments per the direction of Construction Manager, Site Project Manager and/or Field Physical Activities : Physical activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Able to work in operating refinery and chemical plant environments in varied weather conditions.Sit and stand for long periods; walk, verbally communicate, sit, stand, climb, crawl, kneel, lift; view computer monitors for long periods of time; type on a keyboard; drive a vehicle. Physical Demands: Physical demands commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Functions 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 14, 18, 21 and 23 require ascending the construction, entering confined spaces and successfully passing a pulmonary function test to be eligible to wear a respirator.Reach for, handle and manipulate objects. Use hands and arms to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Visual Acuity : Visual activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. See well (either naturally or with correction) and focus clearly on objects at varying distances. Ability to identify and distinguish color is required to evaluate color-coded identification systems and NDT results. Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions : Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Employee is subject to inside and outside conditions, including high and low ambient temperatures.Employee is subject to hazards of operating at elevated levels.Employee will regularly wear a respirator or fall protection harness and lanyard. Employee will occasionally be subject to noise levels above 85 dbl and will be required to wear ear protection. POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Knowledge: Technical degree or over 5 years in mechanical, piping, civil, surveying or construction science/management. Experience: Working knowledge of surveying techniques and equipment, assigned discipline design and overall engineering standards. Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: (Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position). Levels, transits, safety equipment, drafting instruments and boilermaker tools. Computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint); scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Primavera, Immpower); cost tracking software (Viewpoint); design software (AutoCAD); internet use and innovation. Ability to learn other software, if required, with company-provided training. License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Valid state-issued driver's license.
