Towsen Memorial is looking to hire a Radiology Technologist to join our team! This candidate will be responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced. Working closely with radiologists and physicians, this candidate will also operate X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment under direction of the Medical Director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Set up and operate radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients Select proper ionizing factors for radiologic diagnosis Positions patient and set up and adjust equipment to obtain the best quality x-ray of the specific body area requested by the physician Takes preventative steps to minimize radiation exposure to the patient and fellow staff Adjusts and sets radiographic controls, such as kilovoltage and milliamperage, to prescribed specifications for proper timing of exposure Regulates the length and intensity of film exposure Positions and ensures safety of patient position; and takes X-rays of patients' chest, limbs, or other body parts as requested by the physicians Implements infection control procedures for the work area Maintains sterile field and implements best practices while in the operating room Checks X-ray for clarity of image, and retakes X-rays when needed Distributes films to appropriate medical staff and transfer images to electronic medical records (EMR) Maintains quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and facility policy Performs radiographic procedures for patients in surgery Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining repairs needed o equipment Protects patient and other personnel from radiation hazards Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and equipment Assures that all materials and other required equipment, are present and in working order Follows all safety rules on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the work place Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance to policy and procedure and HIPPA requirements Adheres to the company standards of business conduct Performs other duties as assigned as per discretion of physician and manager KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures Knowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniques Knowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications Strong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks Ability to set up and operate radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment Ability to lift and position patients for the type of X-ray procedure required Ability to clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to equipment Compliance with facility policies and procedures Compliance with continuing and mandatory education programs Has self-control to maintain composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in difficult situations Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and /or the patient's condition changes High stress tolerance: accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations Ability to adapt with flexibility: being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace Ability to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and depending one oneself to get things done Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow Ability to maintain accurate patient records Ability to communicate effectively Ability to lift 50 lbs., carry 35 lbs., push and pull 25lbs, lift overhead 25 lbs.
