Description:
JOB SUMMARY This is a skilled technical position that conducts inspections on commercial and residential construction projects; compares construction to the construction plans to ensure construction projects are compliant with all of the provisions of the building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and related codes, the specific standards of materials, workmanship and safety, and the code within the City ordinances. This position is expected to maintain the highest level of customer service while engaging with contractors, homeowners, the general public, and other city departments. This position reports directly to the Building Official. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years related experience; or equivalent education and experience. Associate's degree preferred. Special Requirements: ICC Certification as Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, or Combination Inspector or 2 years special training in municipal inspections is preferred. Master Electrician License and/or a Master Plumber License preferred. Must have a Plumbing Inspector license issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners or must be able to obtain within one year. Possession of a Valid Texas "Class C" driver license.
