Jacobs is NASA's largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States. We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Dynamics Engineer to join our team with Teammate company, Mb Solutions. The selected candidate for this role will: Approve and coordinate all test operations/testing activities for assigned labs. Responsible for the allocation of the laboratory resources to accomplish approved test operations and fabrication projects as directed by the Team Lead and/or Lab Operations Manager. Responsible for assigning only certified personnel to perform approved test operations and fabrication projects. Responsible for the training of uncertified laboratory staff and updating training records. Management of lab chemical inventory and ensuring that only authorized chemicals are stored in flammable/chemical lockers, items are clearly identified/labeled, and that Safety Data Sheets are available for all chemicals. Responsible for ensuring that any required personal protective equipment (PPE) is available to all laboratory staff. Monitor lab safety activities for compliance with JSC requirements/guidelines and promote best practices in those areas. Responsible for taking corrective actions to resolve any safety and health issues and notifying the Lab Operations Manager of any deficiencies. Develop and/or review essential documentation for the facilities, test equipment and lab hardware. Help identify project risks as they relate to facilities, lab equipment, and lab hardware. Periodically status management on lab, testing, and test rig activities. Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions. Perform other duties, as required Qualifications HS diploma and 20 years of related experience or BS in Engineering Technology or related field and 15 years of related experience. Experience with assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of advanced Pressure Garment Subsystem (PGS) spacesuits and the xPGS spacesuit. Experience with xEMU processes and operations in the JSC PGS processing lab and advanced suit lab. Experience with lab operations, upkeep, and maintenance activities in the JSC PGS processing lab and the advanced suit lab, including the test rigs in these areas, controlled work areas, and manufacturing equipment. Experience with the development and review of PGS assembly, disassembly, and maintenance procedures. Experience with safe human in the loop testing of the PGS assembly, including the identification and documentation of hazards in multiple test environments, such as ARGOS, NBL, and 1-G lab testing. Training certifications in CPR, certified pressure systems operator, hazards in oxygen systems, cleanliness, and contamination control. Ability to develop processes and procedures and advise on areas for improvement Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical systems, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and component level and systems level testing.
