Position Summary: The Production Engineer will be responsible for supporting and improving the performance of assigned manufacturing processes in the Kuraray America EVAL Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH) production plant. The person in this position will work in close cooperation with the EVAL process and production engineers, day supervisors, and the Assistant Production Manager. The role requires the use of sound engineering practices and process safety management principles to assure safe and efficient plant operations. The Production Engineer must troubleshoot process upsets, identify root causes, and make corrective actions. Role will apply engineering skills to improve safe operations, productivity, quality and reduce cost. Responsibilities: Participate in Kuraray safety processes (PHAs, HAZOP reviews) and assist in implementing safety recommendations. Complete MOCs and provide notification to affected employees. Ensure EVAL manufacturing complies with regulatory guidelines and policies. Assist in safety and environmental incident investigation. Assist in environmental record keeping. Review process and final product analytical results and data historian trends. Provide daily review and troubleshooting assistance for product quality and production throughput. Complete product campaign reviews. Provide occasional weekend support when required. Monitor and collect process data. Analyze raw material yields and energy costs. Develop potential improvement projects. Lead small capital and expense projects to improve operations. Attend technical training seminars and classes and review process documentation and operation. Develop intermediate proficiency of DCS and process control systems. Minimum Requirements BS in Chemical Engineering Previous chemical or polymer manufacturing experienced gained through internships or co-op Analytical thinking and demonstrated proficiency using statistical analyses/techniques Oral & written communication skills Demonstrated problem solving skills 5+ years of relevant petrochemical operation and/or process experience Planning & organizing ability.
