The City of Tomball is accepting applications for the position of Water and Sewer Forman in the Public Works Department. Under general direction this position p rovides lead supervision for multiple crews and participate in the installation, construction, repair, and maintenance of City-owned water and wastewater utility facilities. The Water & Sewer Foreman assists with natural gas supervision as needed. This is a full first-line supervisory level classification in the Utilities Department. Work in this classification is distinguished from that of Utilities Crew Chief by having greater responsibility and autonomy. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Check water and sewer system facilities for needed maintenance and repair. Organize, schedule, assign, supervise and coordinate the underground excavation, construction, maintenance and repair of the water and sewer systems. Repair and install water and sewer taps, meters, manholes, lines, valves, regulators, lift stations, pumps, storage tanks, plant components, fire hydrants and the disinfection, pumping, storage. Distribution of domestic drinking water, the maintenance of water quality to State and Federal guidelines, and the City's backflow control, leak detection and valve turning programs. Oversee the maintenance and tests of sewer lines and new manholes. Respond to complaints from citizens and private sector. Confer with engineers, contractors, the public, other Utilities and City staff regarding projects and project problems. Upgrade and correct maps of new water and sewer system construction. Evaluate work methods and procedures used in field operations, recommending improvements. Assist in water and sewer system standard upgrades. Assist with completion of several regulatory reports required by EPA and TCEQ. Inspect field projects in progress and upon completion. Supervise, train and evaluate staff. Responsible for compliance of state and federal statutes and regulations for Municipal service. Assign priorities in the conduct of daily operations. Responsible for employee uniforms and protective equipment. Requisition supplies and materials. Review plans. Perform after hours call-outs. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS : Five years or more of sufficient progressively responsible experience in underground utility construction. Must be certified "C" or better in wastewater competency and certified "C" or better in waterworks competency with the ability to obtain "B" certification in both within one year. Required gas operation certification. CPR/AED certification is desirable. C.D.L. is desirable. Valid Class C Texas motor vehicle operator's license required and maintained throughout employment. SALARY : Hiring Range: $59,525 - $62,501 Salary Range: $59,525 - $80,534 **Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
