The Security Operations Center (SOC) Supervisor plays the critical role of leading a team SOC Specialists in monitoring building systems, including surveillance, communications, environmental, and alarms. Position Available: Title: Security Manager - Security Operations Center (SOC)Reports to: Deputy Head of Security - Administration (DHSA)Classification: ExemptSchedule: 40-hour work weekOvertime: NAPay Rate: $49,000.00 annualBenefits: Medical, Vision and Dental Insurance, Life and Long-Term Disability Insurance, MFAH Retirement Savings Plan (403b), Flexible Spending Plans, Paid Time Off, Reserve Time Off, Holiday Pay, Museum Membership and DiscountsWork Location: MFAH Campus Job Summary: The Security Manager - Security Operations Center (SMSOC) reports directly to the Deputy Head of Security Administration (DHSA) and is responsible for providing day-to-day operational leadership to a team of SOC Specialists.A major part of the SMSOC role will involve his/her ability to communicate with SOC Specialists, Security Management, and other Museum staff. This role is responsible for day-to-day interactions to administer programs in the areas of training and development, emergency preparedness, and policy enforcement as it relates to the monitoring and communication of daily and emergency operations. Leadership Responsibilities: Provides direct leadership to team of 20 SOC Specialists Counsel SOC Specialists, both verbally and in writing, on their job performance Teams with the DHSA to complete performance evaluations Completes written reports on accidents and incidents Conducts individual and group training sessions on security related topics Conducts security briefings and orientations for new employees Assists SOC specialists in monitoring applicable systems, including, but not limited to, surveillance, alarms, communications, and environmental systems. Implements museum and security department's policies and procedures fairly and consistently Pass-down shift notes and relevant information to incoming relief supervisor(s) and officers to ensure communication of necessary information General Responsibilities: Subject Matter Expert for Emergency Communication System Lead for monitoring international and domestic risk conditions for Museum staff traveling on Museum business, to include preparation of pre-travel briefings as needed. Will serve as a member of the museum emergency response team. May be designated as "essential personnel" and required to report to work or remain at work during inclement weather or other emergency situations. Manage SOC operation to ensure an adequate level of staffing at all times Ensure SOC Specialists maintain an impeccable appearance and carry required equipment Ensure adherence to department procedures, processes, and policies Maintain relationships with people across a variety of areas within the organization Participate in department projects and initiatives and provide knowledge and leadership in cross-functional project teams Act as a resource for staff on procedural questions and concerns; provide solutions and escalate certain issues to the appropriate personnel. Escalate work performance issues to the proper personnel when necessary Issue and collect equipment such as uniforms, radios and keys Ensure SOC Specialists understand and comply with post and special orders, department policies and operating procedures Performs other duties as assigned Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Ability to lead a team through positive example and reinforcement. Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal communication skills Proficient in general business computer software Practical experience working with video management systems, building alarm monitoring systems, access control monitoring systems, and communication systems. Maintains a friendly and courteous attitude Must have good writing skills in order to document incidents and events clearly and concisely Must be polite and tactful with dealing with co-workers and public. Must be alert and able to respond quickly in an emergency. Sound decision-making abilities Ability to obtain and maintain First Responder, CPR and other related certifications on a yearly basis Be physically able to administer First Aid and CPR including carrying first aid equipment and assisting with lifting and moving victims if required May be designated as "essential personnel" and required to report to work or remain at work during inclement weather or other emergency situations Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and/or five years of related experience preferred Must have a minimum five years working in a monitoring or control-room environment, including practical experience working with video management, access control, and alarm monitoring systems. Qualifications also include a clear criminal background report, must be 18 years of age or older and have the ability to perform all tasks required of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must have in good standing or be qualified to obtain - level 2 Non-Commissioned Security Guard license with Texas Department of Public Safety. Security personnel must pass a national criminal background check in order to maintain non-commission status through the Texas Commission on Private Security. All applicants are required to have a valid state issued ID or driver license in order to complete the application process. Bilingual is preferred Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Must have accurate vision (22/20 or 20/40 with corrective lens acceptable).
