Job Description:AXALTA COATING SYSTEMS Title: Powder Coatings Principal Process Engineer Reports to: Technology Leader, Industrial CoatingsLocation: Houston, Texas, US__________________________________________________________Role Summary The Powder Coatings Principal Process Engineer serves as the primary interface between the powder product development teams and the regional/global powder coating manufacturing network, focusing on scale-up of intermediates and finished products, manufacturing support, and process improvement.Responsibilities: * Scale up and bring new products and technologies from the laboratory into the manufacturing environment. * Lead advancements in understanding the relationship between key product attributes and critical process parameters in scaling from the laboratory to commercial production * Work closely with business, site manufacturing, technology, quality and product management teams to define, prioritize, develop and implement manufacturing technology improvements to enhance product quality and improve product cost in alignment with strategic business/ technology direction * Advance understanding of process variations and key parameters impacting plant performance * Participate in manufacturing cross functional forums to support and/or troubleshoot plant process and quality issues, process safety and capital projects implementation, interfacing with personnel at all levels of the organization including globally. * Support the transfer of products between sites to optimize manufacturing footprint * Advance fundamental understanding of powder coatings process technology and manufacturing operations * Propose, document, and implement manufacturing standard best practices across the networkQualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related degree minimum; advanced degree preferred * 7+ years' experience in Engineering/Process engineering, preferably in continuous flow manufacturing and/or chemical batch manufacturing operations environments * Foundational technical knowledge of paints and coatings, and specifically, knowledge of powder coatings production technology and unit operations is desired * Effective written and oral communication * Knowledge and use of designed experimentation and statistical data analysis * Demonstrated project management skills and cross-functional teamwork * Demonstrated ability to drive technical programs, learn new technologies, effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously * The ability to work and influence collaboratively and effectively within a global and diverse population * Ability to travel up to 25%Our Company:Axalta has remained at the forefront of the coatings industry by continually investing in innovative solutions.
