Company : Camillo Companies Job Title : Controller Department : Family Office Reports to : Chief Financial Officer Status : Full Time / Exempt- Salaried Job Summary: Camillo Companies is seeking a Family Office Controller to oversee the financial accounting of a two-person family office accounting staff located in Houston, Texas. The candidate must be a creative and effective problem solver with excellent judgment, great interpersonal skills, a high sense of urgency, and unquestioned confidentiality. Successful candidate will help manage the financial accounting for the business owner's personal family business, including property management, insurance, taxes, investment portfolio, family trusts, and separate business enterprises. Duties/Responsibilities: Financial modeling - Prepare financial models needed to determine cashflow requirements of the various family office enterprises including trusts. Financial reporting - Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements/reports for the family. Includes personal assets/operations as well as some business entities. Prior knowledge of NetSuite (plus) and QuickBooks (must have), as well as a thorough understanding of Excel (advanced features like pivot tables), is required. Income Taxes - Preparation and submission of supporting documentation allowing Family Office tax resources and outside accounting firm to prepare income tax returns. Investments - Family investments are managed by the Operating company finance teams and outside investment management firms. The Family Office Controller must have knowledge of the operating companies and family investments and will manage the relationships with these two groups, review investment reports from Investment Managers, summarize the reports for the family and provide input, when requested, on decisions related to investments. Property, Casualty, Auto and Other Insurance - Responsible for working with the Risk department on securing appropriate insurance coverage for family members and family business entities. Special projects - Assist family members and Senior Management Team Members with various special projects as required. Required Skills/Abilities: Outstanding financial modeling skills and experience. Friendly and welcoming demeanor with the ability to maintain professionalism and a strong customer-focused demeanor with demanding clientele. Excellent time management skills, detail-orientation and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, along with advanced conflict resolution skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills and proficient in English. Must be able to articulate needs and convey information verbally and in writing effectively with employees, customers, supervisors, and co-workers throughout the organization. Knowledge of management methods and sound employee relations techniques with an ability to connect to staff, troubleshoot problems and help teams collaborate, as necessary. Able to work in an equitable, inclusive, and diverse environment. Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 5 - 10+ years of relevant experience required. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) being preferred but not required. Professional certification as CPA or CFA/CFP. Demonstrated experience with accounting, financial management, financial analysis, insurance, and legal matters. 10+ years of experience at the controllership/accounting/finance management levels with a private service-based company preferred.
