Summary We encourage you to join us in this dynamic opportunity to partner with the Division Chief of Pediatric Rheumatology to proactively enhance research and academic growth. This position will lead the strategic direction of the Pediatric Rheumatology Divisions business operations to ensure that current and long:term academic business goals are met. This is a critical role in the daily operations in relation to budget governance, research financial stewardship, and human resource support. The position partners with the Division Chief, Section Administration, and the affiliate partner, Texas Childrens Hospital. The Lead will perform and assist with implementation of grant:related activities (pre: and post:awards), budget preparation, human resources, and other programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background/experience in research financial management within an academic medicine, healthcare and/or hospital setting as well as a strategic mindset. Current BCM employees who are eligible to transfer are encouraged . This position is eligible to work hybrid within the Greater Houston, TX area; 4 days onsite and 1 day from home per week. Job Duties Serves as the BCM grants, and financial administrator, and human resources lead for the Division, while supporting daily operations of Division for BCM mission areas (administration, research, and teaching). Grants:- Provides financial management with pre: and post:award related tasks in support of Division faculty.- Budget administration : external grant accounts.- Performs cost assessments.- Monitors financial transactions and financial reports for grant accounts.- Manages cost and effort for grant funded personnel.- Assists Faculty in identifying and applying for research or educational grants. Financial:- Manages 3.4 million budget (operational academic budget) included oversight and approval of day to day financial and payroll actions.- Develops, prepares and reviews financial reports including but not limited to BCM operating funds, grants, general appropriations, and other funds.- Reviews and approves payroll, human resources, and invoice actions in SuccessFactors and associated business applications.- Provides financial management with external grant for both pre:award and post:award related tasks in support of department faculty members. Includes budget administration, performing cost assessments, monitoring financial transactions, and financial reporting. To make strategic decisions based on financial data.- Serves as finance approver for all SuccessFactors and SRM transactions.- Monitors financial transactions and financial reports for operational funds- Manages cost and effort for all faculty and staff regardless of funding source.- Ensures the ongoing review and development of process improvements to maximize operating and business productivity. Human Resources:- Responsible for all onboarding (new staff and faculty) in SuccessFactors, faculty appointment and promotion process, and staff promotions as needed.- Collaborates with Division Head and affiliate partner (TCH) on staffing and faculty recruitment and business operations of the Division (i.e. Administration, Research, Teaching).- Manages faculty recruitment and onboarding process; oversite of credentialing at multiple hospital locations.- Provides human resource management for staff development, on/off boarding and performance management.- Oversees Division admin support employees. Includes assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, maintaining schedules, and providing feedback during annual performance management. Assists and establishes goals for admin support employees.- Actively collaborates with Division Chief, Pediatrics Administration and affiliate partner TCH on staffing plans and faculty recruitment and business operations of the Division.
