Summary The KLemon Lab at Baylor College of Medicine is hiring a Research Technician II. The long:term goal is to identify bacterial strains and compounds that will be leads for new approaches to prevent and treat infections due to nasal bacterial pathobionts and respiratory viruses. To achieve this, they identify molecular mechanisms of interspecies interactions in the human nasal microbiome. Research Technicians in the KLemon Lab perform a variety of experimental techniques and have multiple opportunities for mentored on:the:job skill building. To learn more about the KLemon Lab go to our website:bcmresearch/faculty:labs/katherine:lemon:lab Job Duties:Performs experiments using bacterial cultivation, human nasal organoids, molecular biology and/or genetic engineering. Analyze data from experiments.:Demonstrates and ensures compliance with standard biosafety and laboratory regulations.:Participates in lab meetings and read papers related to the specific project.:Prepares figures and assist in writing related to experiments performed.:Maintains general lab environment thatincludesbut not limited to, equipment maintenance and repairs, organization, and cleanliness of the lab.:Assists with ordering lab supplies and inventory. Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.:No experience required. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors degree preferably in microbiology, microbial ecology, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or chemical biology.:Experience in bacterial cultivation, excellent aseptic technique, and general skills common to a microbiology lab.:Strong documentation and organizational skills with the ability to keep accurate records of all work performed.:Good analytical and computer skills.:Experience with basic command line preferred, and a working knowledge of R is a plus.:One year of lab research experience with bacteria is desirable.:Has ability to learn new bench research techniques with guidance and mentoring.:Demonstrates strong work ethic that includes ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, use good judgment and complete duties.:Has the ability to work both independently and as a team member:Has the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a team with diverse backgrounds.
