BCMs long partnership with Harris Health System includes providing hundreds of faculty and trainees. Ben Taub Hospital is the main Harris Health System hospital and one of the main BCM teaching hospitals. The Ben Taub Section is comprised of 11 faculty. The successful candidate will work with the Ben Taub Chief of Medicine and provide inpatient and outpatient care. Summary The Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Medicine is looking to recruit an Assistant or Associate Professor for the Harris Health System and provide patient care services in an outpatient clinic setting, endoscopy inpatient, and outpatient. Candidates must be Board certified in Gastroenterology, have at least 5:6 years of experience, and a record of academic accomplishment and leadership experience that would qualify. Job Duties stylemargin:bottom:11.0px:: See and evaluate new and existing patients in a clinical setting, in addition to outpatient endoscopy sessions.: Participate in the inpatient consult service.: Develop a treatment plan for patients.: Physician productivity needs to meet or exceed the levels established by the College.: Participate in all routine clinical meetings held with the immediate work group.: Maintain required certifications and licensing.: Become familiar with Electronic Medical Record system, enter data into EMR, and develop a level of competency to document all patient encounters.: Complete all documentation in a timely manner to enable billing operations.: Orders for diagnostic services and referrals to specialists.: Be an active member of a clinical group practice, including educational activities such as participate in Grand Rounds, monthly faculty meetings and retreats.: Share call responsibilities within the clinical group and provide medical care to the patients of other providers when they are not available.: Meet or exceed all quality indicators.: Maintain professionalism in relationships with students, faculty, ancillary and administrative staff.: All professional billing and appropriate credentialing paperwork must be completed/renewed well ahead of their expiration. Minimum Qualifications stylemargin:bottom:11.0px:: Minimum Education: M.D.: Minimum Job Experience: Residency and Fellowship training in Gastroenterology. Previous clinical experience as a practicing gastroenterologist is preferred.: Minimum Certification/Licenses/Registration: License from Texas Medical Board certification.
