JOIN OUR TEAM! Key Job Responsibilities: Perform firefighting, rescue, EMS, hazardous materials, public relation and maintenance duties as outlined in department policy, procedures, guidelines and protocols and as directed by department officers. Operate fire apparatus and fire equipment during emergency operations and training evolutions in accordance with department policy, procedures and guidelines and as directed by department officers. Comply with department policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervision Received: Will receive supervision from department officers. Knowledge / Skills: Must possess a strong knowledge of the Incident Management System, fire ground strategy and tactics, current rescue practices and EMS patient care standards Must be able to work in combination department composed of volunteer, part-time and full-time fire suppression personnel and separate agency EMS personnel Must have working computer knowledge including Microsoft Office software Must possess strong verbal communication skills Minimum Qualifications (Duration of employment): High school diploma or GED Current TCFP Structural Fire Fighter - Basic certification Current TDSHS EMT - Basic certification Valid Texas Class "C" driver's license NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 - Must complete within probationary period TCFP Driver/Operator-Pumper certification - Completed within probation period Texas Class "B" Exempt driver's license - Obtained within probation period Satisfactorily pass annual EMS protocol testing administered by medical director PREFERRED: TDL Class B driver's license, TCFP Driver/Operator-Pumper certification, TCFP Hazardous Materials Technician certification, TEEX Structural Collapse Technician, TDSHS EMT-I and EMT-P certifications, 2-years combination department experience Physical & Job Requirements: Carry 100lbs for a minimum of 200' while wearing protective equipment and respiratory protection Connect, carry and operate fire hose on burning materials/objects at grade level, below grade level and from elevated positions while on even/dry & uneven/slippery surfaces while wearing protective equipment and respiratory protection in varying climate/temperature/environment Carry, deploy, climb and operate from ground ladders at grade level, below grade level and from elevated positions while on even/dry & uneven/slippery surfaces while wearing protective equipment and respiratory protection in varying climate/temperature Operate at heights during fire and rescue operations, including climbing aerial ladders, on even/dry & uneven/slippery surfaces while wearing protective equipment and respiratory protection in varying climate/temperature Operate hand tools (axe, Halligan, pike pole) and power tools/equipment (saws, extrication equipment) at grade level, below grade and from elevated positions while on even/dry & uneven/slippery surfaces while wearing protective equipment and respiratory protection in varying climate/temperature Perform rescue operations of persons trapped in burning structures, vehicles, machinery and other objects using extrication equipment and other power equipment while on even/dry & uneven/slippery surfaces while wearing protective equipment and respiratory protection in varying climate/temperature Perform patient care to sick and injured in accordance with state requirements and department protocols as established by department medical director. This is inclusive of patient assessment, treatment, extrication and associated reporting practices Observe and follow established safety rules of department inclusive of department protective equipment, respiratory protection and other apparel/devices as appropriate Drive and operate department vehicles in accordance with applicable state laws and department policies inclusive of pump operations, aerial operations, water supply operations and other emergency and training activities Inspect and service self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), accountability system components and small tools/equipment on daily basis Restock fire and EMS supplies as necessary to ensure adequate service levels Perform all job duties in both indoor and outdoor settings with varying weather conditions (dry/rain/snow) and temperature (cold/hot) Perform all job duties in areas with potentially high levels of ambient noise from apparatus, equipment and machinery Maintain station facilities and perform minor maintenance duties as required Maintain apparatus and perform minor maintenance duties as required Participate in department training as required Obtain advanced certification as directed by the department to include Structural Collapse Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician and others Subject to mandatory recall/hold over during times of natural disaster, extreme conditions and as directed by department head and/or city government Eligible Certification Pay (Monthly): TDSHS EMT-Intermediate* $150.00 TDSHS EMT-Paramedic* $334.00 TCFP Hazardous Materials Technician $25.00 TCFP Instructor I $25.00 TCFP Structural Fire Fighter - Intermediate certification* $25.00 TCFP Structural Fire Fighter - Advanced certification* $50.00 TEEX Structural Collapse Technician $25.00 *Only highest EMS and Fire Fighter certification levels are eligible Hiring Process: Applicants meeting requirements will be contacted for testing to be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 .
