Job Title: Grant Accountant Reports To: Director of Finance SUMMARY As Grant Accountant you will apply accounting and finance principles to assist with financial reporting and government grant fund accounting. We are seeking a team-oriented accountant who will work on tracking all government and foundation grants, participating in the proposal process, expense coding, and invoicing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with month end journal entries in accordance with US GAAP Read government grant agreements and contracts with understanding of invoicing guidelines Ensure proper coding of grant expenses by determining allowable expenses Work with programs and grant managers to implement procedures to ensure proper spending and tracking of grant funds Assist with tracking timesheets for personnel involved with grants Create and issue invoices accurately based on grant agreement and ensure timely collection Assists in the management of the credit card program Assists in the maintenance of the General Ledger Participate in the financial audit and preparation of required audit support schedules Participate in cross training of other roles and responsibilities across the accounting team Develop ad-hoc reports and analysis for cross-functional teams and management as requested QUALIFICATIONS Challenge seeker and problem solver; eagerness to learn new things Ability to build relationships with internal departments and external parties Team player, open to helping the team whenever necessary Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds Detail oriented and organized Strong ethical and moral fortitude EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 2 or more years of accounting experience in accounting Experience with government grants and fund accounting a plus Proficient in Microsoft Excel COMPENSATION PACKAGE $80,000-$85,000Eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and more.
