Job Overview As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best:in:class health care professionals and developing cutting:edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. A full time Post Doc Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. George Smulian in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The individual will join a team to conduct research in pneumocystis. The faculty of the Division of Infectious Diseases is among the national leaders in basic science research in infectious diseases, the care of patients with HIV infections, tuberculosis and global health clinical care, education and research. Essential Functions: Conduct and design experiments focusing on molecular and cellular aspects of pathogenesis in pneumocystis or other specific organisms: Gather and analyze data, troubleshoot problems and develop new ideas that promote current research: Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results: Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise: Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed: Teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff as needed: Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities. : Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.: Perform related duties based on research need. This job description can be changed at anytime. Required Education Doctorate Degree in Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine, or related field. Required Experience Research experience in biomedical research. Additional Qualifications Considered Hands:on experience with animal handling is ideal.
